Dr. Joanne L. Carlson grew up on the northwest side of Chicago. She graduated from the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1993. After several years in private practice, she became the Dupage County Animal Control Administrator, caring for shelter animals. Her special interest is exotic animal and she had completed and externship and fellowship at the Lincoln Park Zoo. In 1999, Dr. Carlson purchased Loving Care Animal Clinic in Rolling Meadows. The clinic mission is to provide the highest standard of veterinary care in a compassionate manner, to develop and open, honest alliance with our clients and to celebrate the human animal bond. We realized that your animal companions are beloved family members and we strive to treat them with special attention. The new addition to Loving Care Animal Clinic was the purchase of a CO2 Laser.
In addition to managing the clinic, she has served as President of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, which helps to promote public education and awareness about veterinary medicine. The CVMA currently represents approximately 1200 local veterinarians. She recently testified before the Illinois Senate regarding proposed legislation affecting pet owners.
Dr. Carlson is a member of the Rolling Meadows Chamber of Commerce as well as the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce. She writes articles on animal health issues for local newspapers and does numerous speaking engagements at local schools, scouting events and pet shows. She also serves as a judge at county fair pet shows. Dr. Carlson has been featured in a child safety video, Dogs, Cats & Big Kids. Also featured on CLTV’s Money Matters, Dr. Carlson shared tips on traveling with pets.
Dr. Carlson resides in Rolling Meadows with her husband Michael, daughter Theresa and twins Julia and Jonathan. Their pets include two cats, Betty and Wilma, and a cockatiel, LaLa.
In her spare time, Dr. Carlson enjoys spending time with her family and has run the Chicago marathon three times and participates in local triathlons.
